Are Curses Real and How Do They Affect a Person?

Master Hien’s teaching on spiritual power, merit and the difference between a real curse and an empty threat
By Master Hien

The word curse can stir up fear before anyone even knows what is happening. A streak of bad luck begins. A person feels unusually drained. Relationships become tense, plans keep falling apart or an unexplained heaviness seems to follow them. It can be tempting to connect every difficult experience to a spiritual attack.
But is every curse real? Can another person truly place one on you simply by speaking angry words, copying something from a book or claiming to possess spiritual power?
According to Master Hien, the answer is no. Within his spiritual training and understanding, a curse can be real, but only under particular conditions. Genuine spiritual power is not created by a threat alone. It requires a trained spiritual system, an established spiritual connection and someone who truly knows how to use that system. Without those things, frightening words remain only words.
What Makes a Curse Real
Master Hien teaches that a genuine curse must come through someone with real spiritual training, such as a properly trained medium, sorcerer or practitioner working within a legitimate spiritual system. The person must have more than an interest in the unseen world. They must possess the training and spiritual connection required for the curse to have any power.
This distinction matters because people can imitate ceremonies, repeat words or copy instructions without understanding the system behind them. Someone may find an old ritual in a book, perform it dramatically and insist that another person has been cursed. In Master Hien’s teaching, imitation does not create spiritual authority. A copied ritual without a genuine spiritual connection has no power simply because it looks convincing.
The appearance of a ritual and the reality of spiritual power are not the same thing.

Why Merit and Virtue Matter
Master Hien also teaches that a curse does not affect every person in the same way. A person’s merit and virtue can influence how vulnerable they are to harmful spiritual forces.
Merit can be understood as the positive spiritual value built through a person’s choices, conduct and treatment of others. Someone who has lived with greater kindness, responsibility and virtue may have stronger spiritual protection. If a curse reaches that person at all, Master Hien explains that its effects may be lighter.
A person carrying less merit, or someone who has repeatedly harmed others, may be more vulnerable. In that situation, the curse may take hold more strongly because the person does not have enough accumulated merit to protect them. From this perspective, spiritual protection is not merely something a person purchases or performs when frightened. It is connected to the way that person has lived.
This does not mean every hardship is punishment or that anyone experiencing difficulty should be blamed. It means that, within Master Hien’s spiritual framework, our choices create consequences and can shape the protection we carry with us.
A Threat Is Not the Same as a Curse
People sometimes use the fear of curses to control others. They may threaten, “I will curse you,” claim that something terrible is coming or insist that a person must pay them to remove a danger. Those statements can be deeply unsettling, especially when someone is already anxious or going through a difficult period.
Master Hien advises looking beyond the threat itself. Does the person have genuine spiritual training? Do they belong to a real spiritual system? Is there any reason to believe they possess the spiritual connection required to do what they claim?
If they do not, Master Hien teaches that the supposed curse is false. A person can speak frightening words, imitate a ritual or try to intimidate someone, but that does not give them spiritual power. Fear may still affect the person emotionally, yet that is different from an actual curse.
Someone’s confidence does not prove their ability. Their threat may sound powerful while carrying no spiritual force at all.
How Can Someone Tell the Difference
Determining whether a curse is real should not begin with panic. It requires careful observation and an honest look at the person making the claim.
Master Hien’s explanation provides several questions to consider:
Does the person have genuine training within an established spiritual system?
Do they possess a real spiritual connection, rather than knowledge copied from a book or online source? Are they making a vague threat designed mainly to frighten or pressure someone? Could the experiences being blamed on a curse have an ordinary physical, emotional, financial or relationship-related cause?
Not every illness, setback, nightmare, argument or uncomfortable feeling has a spiritual cause. Physical or mental-health symptoms should still be discussed with an appropriate licensed professional, and practical problems should be investigated practically. Spiritual concerns should not replace medical care, personal safety or clear judgment.

What to Do If You Believe a Curse Is Real
If someone sincerely believes they may be affected by a genuine curse, Master Hien teaches that the situation may require help from a properly trained sorcerer or medium who understands how to identify and address it. The important words are properly trained. Not everyone who calls themselves psychic, spiritual or gifted has the knowledge—or the spiritual system—needed to help.
A trustworthy practitioner should be able to explain their understanding without immediately using fear as leverage. Be cautious of anyone who guarantees disaster, demands escalating payments, pressures you to act immediately or tries to separate you from medical care and trusted loved ones. Fear makes people easier to manipulate, which is why calm judgment remains important even when the concern feels spiritual.
It is also worth remembering that Master Hien’s teaching places importance on merit and virtue. Living responsibly, treating others well and correcting harmful behavior are not quick tricks for escaping consequences. They are part of the deeper spiritual protection a person builds throughout life.
The Difference Between Fear and Understanding
Curses are often presented as though anyone can create one with the right words, object or ritual. Master Hien’s teaching is much more specific. A real curse requires spiritual power, and spiritual power requires both training and connection. A threat without that foundation may create fear, but it does not become spiritually effective simply because someone believes it.
The greater lesson is not to treat every unexplained difficulty as evidence of a curse. It is to understand the difference between appearance and reality, remain thoughtful when fear begins to take over and seek knowledgeable help only when there is a genuine reason to do so.
Do you believe in curses?
Absolutely ✅
No way, they're fairytale stories ❌
I'm not sure 🤔
Within Master Hien’s understanding, the strongest protection does not begin with fear of what someone else might do. It begins with the merit, virtue and awareness we develop through the way we live.
