The term spiritual healer can mean many different things depending on culture, religion, and personal belief. For Master Hien, however, spiritual healing has never simply been about performing rituals or claiming unusual abilities. It is a responsibility that requires knowledge, discipline, experience, and an understanding of the spiritual world.

Throughout his life, Master Hien has encountered people seeking help with circumstances they could not easily explain. Some believed they were experiencing hauntings or spiritual attachments. Others sought guidance because of disturbances affecting their homes, families, businesses, or personal lives.

But not every difficult experience has a spiritual cause.

This distinction is important. A true spiritual healer should not assume that every problem is caused by spirits, curses, possession, or supernatural forces. Understanding what is actually happening must come before attempting to solve it.

The Spiritual World Is More Complex Than It Appears

People often think of the spiritual world in simple terms: good spirits and bad spirits, blessings and curses, or heaven and evil. Master Hien's experiences have shown him something much more complicated.

Spirits may exist at different spiritual levels and may have different reasons for interacting with the living. Some may be confused or attached to a person or place. Others may intentionally cause disturbances. There are also mediums, sorcerers, spiritual practitioners, and other individuals whose abilities and intentions can differ greatly.

Having spiritual ability alone does not necessarily make someone a healer.

A medium, for example, may have the ability to communicate with spirits, but that does not automatically mean the medium understands everything he or she encounters. Likewise, a sorcerer may possess knowledge or abilities that can be used to help others, but those same abilities can also be misused.

For this reason, spiritual knowledge must be accompanied by wisdom and responsibility.

A Spiritual Healer Must Understand Before Acting

One of the most important parts of spiritual healing is determining the source of a problem.

What appears to be one thing may actually be another. A person may believe a home is haunted when something entirely different is occurring. Someone may fear that a curse has been placed upon them when no curse exists at all.

A responsible healer does not create fear where there is no reason for it.

Master Hien's approach has always been to first understand the circumstances and determine whether spiritual intervention is appropriate. There are situations in which he may help, and others in which he may determine that his involvement is unnecessary or that another course of action would be more appropriate.

The goal is not to convince people that the spiritual world is responsible for everything that happens to them. The goal is to understand the truth of the situation.

Spiritual Healing Is a Responsibility

True spiritual work should never be about demonstrating power.

Knowledge and ability carry responsibility because the consequences of interfering with spiritual matters can extend beyond what a person immediately sees. Acting without sufficient understanding can make a situation worse rather than better.

For Master Hien, helping others has therefore required years of learning, observation, spiritual discipline, and firsthand experience.

Many of those experiences—including encounters with mediums, sorcerers, spirits, possessions, and other aspects of the spiritual world—became the foundation of Journey of a Healer: Mediums and Sorcerers of South Vietnam.

The purpose of sharing them is not simply to tell unusual stories. They offer a way to better understand a world that many people believe exists around us, yet few truly understand.

KNOWLEDGE HAS LITTLE VALUE IF IT IS KEPT TO ONESELF.
ITS PURPOSE IS TO BE SHARED WITH THOSE WHO SINCERELY SEEK TO LEARN.
